Raw Makhana, also known as Fox Nuts or Lotus Seeds, is the natural, unroasted form of makhana harvested from lotus plants grown in freshwater ponds. It is traditionally cultivated in Bihar, India, which contributes the majority of the world’s supply.

In its raw state, makhana is cleaned, graded, and sun-dried without any roasting, seasoning, or chemical treatment. This makes it the preferred base ingredient for roasted snacks, flavored makhana, flour, sweets, and health food products.

PROCESS FLOW

Makhana seeds sourced from our own farms are carefully harvested and traditionally popped to preserve their natural texture and quality. The popped makhana is then processed in-house using automatic hulling and grading machines, ensuring uniform size and minimal breakage.

Each batch undergoes manual, hygienic inspection, where trained staff carefully remove any imperfect, broken, or discolored makhana. Only premium-quality pieces are selected, while rejected material is discarded to maintain consistency.

Based on customer requirements, the product may undergo an optional fumigation process for enhanced storage stability. It is then passed through a foreign particle removal machine to eliminate dust, shell residue, or any extraneous matter.

Finally, the makhana is hygienically packed in food-grade, moisture-resistant packaging and prepared for safe domestic or export shipment.
